145 No's to 1 Yes
At the age of 40, I had been self employed for 20 years. Although I was successful, I knew firsthand how hard it was to get to that point alone. For crying out loud, it had taken me 20 years to finally call myself a success!
I have always heard about networking organizations and their declaration to double your business and show you how to succeed. I was hesitant to give them a try because I have always thought that success comes with hard work and years of experience. Why was it that other successful people were not spending 20 years in painstaking labor to get to where they were now? I decided to give networking organizations a try and was literally bewildered at how people using the right networking concepts were able to succeed in such a short period of time. This inspired me to begin my personal research.
I attended many networking events locally. I was determined to research each one to the core! My research showed that many of them had good concepts but I felt that something was missing. This propelled me to start the research of various networking organizations globally because if the local ones couldn't satisfy my desire for answers to success, there must have been others out there in different countries that could! I went through 145 websites of different networking organizations dissecting their mission statements, delivery, and systems in place. This took quite some time and months later I was successful at narrowing my search to the top 10 and then cutting it down to three women's networking organizations. All three of them were in three different countries: Australia, England, and the USA.
The networking organization in Australia, which I was drawn to, didn't focus on business. The organization in England was very business oriented, focused, and well constructed, but as I researched it I still didn't get that warm fuzzy feeling. This organization had no focus on building relationships. The final one, located in the USA, had everything that I seemed to be looking for, yet, I still felt as though something was missing. I found myself going back to this organization and re-researching their website. I so badly wanted to find an organization that I could be a part of that could give me everything that I was looking for! I checked every page, every link, and then I suddenly found what was missing. This particular organization catered to women that were CEO's and already successful. Well what about the other 99% of the women who just started their business and haven't begun to make $200,000 a year? My months of research yielded zero results.
At this point, I had to start Women and Network! I have been asked many times what makes WAN different from the many other networking organizations. First of all, it's a women business referral organization. We focus on educating women on how to network productively and then help them to do so. As Thomas Edison found almost 1100 ways NOT to invent a light bulb, I found 145 ways how NOT to network and in doing so created opportunities for growth and expansion for women in business.
So let me ask you.. Are you passionate about your business? Will your business grow when your sphere of influence is growing by leaps and bounds? Are you willing to learn and to give before you get? If you have answered yes to the above questions, jump on board and become a part of our team of amazing women!
